1. ABOUT

Historic Stewart Farm is a local historic site of an original 1910 homestead off crescent road in Surrey.  It features a 100 year old restored farmhouse, barns, gardens and grounds situated on the banks of the Nicomikel River in Elgin Park. It is a window into the life of John Stewart and his family, who lived, built and worked on this farm. The 6 buildings on this site, now operate as a free museum and park for a window into pioneer life.

2. OUR VISIT

From the deep covered porch of the victorian farmhouse, to the original rose garden, to the creak of the floorboards and sweeping views of the river, I absolutely love Stewart Farm. It has such character and we have spent many an afternoon with a family picnic on the lawn, or showing out of town guests its charm. My favourite spots are the rose garden, the covered porch, the tour of the farmhouse, and the walk down the boat dock. There’s always a volunteer dressed up, with something interesting to share about life here in days gone by.

3. FEATURES

1910 Restored Victorian era  Farmhouse in the Queen Anne Style, Root Cellar, Log Pole Barn, Woodshed, threshing shed, and bunkhouse. Also a heritage apple orchard, planted vegetable and rose gardens.

This park has free farmhouse tours that operate Tuesday-Sunday 12 noon to 4:30. The park is open dawn to dusk 7 days a week. The gate is closed promptly.

This is a popular spot to kayak and paddle board. There is also a spectacular walk by the river here. It connects to the Nicomekl Greenway and Semiahmoo Trail, that winds all they way beside the river and eventually comes out at the sea at Blackie Spit in Crescent Beach. For the trail information check out AllTrails and search Elgin Park.

*Murchie’s Tea Company has created a tea blend for Stewart Farms and it is sold in the shop across from the farmhouse. It’s a lovely black and green tea blend. It’s so good! On a side note, Murchie’s Earl Grey tea is our absolute favourite tea on planet earth. My husband loves this tea, and has driven far and wide to the nearest Murchie’s Store to get the largest box he can. He is obsessed. No other Earl Grey tea even comes close to being as good. It makes the absolute perfect hot London Fog Tea Latte too. We have it in our house and in the RV at all times.
